Almost there: A return to fall

The official start to fall is still several weeks away, but despite the 90-degree heat, there is something in the air lately that harkens to fall and makes it feel so close, as if it's just past my reach.  Fall has so many wonderful qualities, it's almost cliche to list them, but I will tell you that my favorite thing about the season is the feeling that it evokes in the core of my being.  It's a cozy feeling ... a stirring, but not restlessness.  It's the desire to do more, create more, and feel more present and alive in activities and with others.  It's the desire to cuddle up with a book, a cat, or a mug of tea, or to ramble out into the dusk among changing leaves and chimney smoke.  This season is when I feel most alive.
